How visitors on phones behave differently from visitors on computers

The majority of shared links are opened on a phone, usually inside another app rather than a full browser. That changes what works.

Screens are narrower, so anything laid out for a wide window gets squeezed or scrolled sideways. Attention is shorter, because the visitor was doing something else thirty seconds ago and intends to go back to it.

Connections are also slower and less reliable than a desk setup. A page that takes six seconds on a home connection can take a great deal longer on a train, and people do not wait.

The lesson is not to build separately for phones. It is to assume the phone is the normal case and the desktop is the exception, because for shared links it usually is.
